Aurora design studio helped us hugely with the development of our Website. Highly recommend them.Radio Wester Ross is a community radio station bringing music, news and local programming to listeners across Wester Ross. We wanted to create a website that reflected the character of the station, made listening online straightforward and, importantly, was easy for the team to manage.
Inspired by the Highlands
We developed a distinctive new identity for Radio Wester Ross, taking inspiration from the landscape and colours of the Scottish Highlands.
The logo brings together two familiar forms — mountain peaks and the bars of a graphic equaliser — creating a visual connection between the station, its surroundings and the music it broadcasts.
Making it easy to tune in
Listening to the radio is naturally at the heart of the website, so we developed an integrated audio player that allows visitors to tune into the live broadcast directly.
Alongside the player, a clear programme schedule helps listeners discover what's on and when, making the website a useful companion to the station itself.
A familiar way to manage the schedule
Keeping the programme schedule up to date was an important consideration, but we didn't want to introduce an unnecessarily complicated system for the team to learn.
Instead, we integrated Google Calendar, something the client was already familiar and comfortable with. The team can manage their programming using the tools they already know, with changes automatically reflected on the website.
It's a simple solution to a practical problem, and a good example of how thoughtful development isn't always about creating something new.
